Start up an IRC channel?

I was thinking it may or may not be beneficial to the group to start up a semi-on-topic IRC channel on the freenode network. Not sure if any of you ever use IRC, but i.m.o. it is a good way for groups such as this to communicate, find help, brainstorm ideas, etc. from the comfort of their own keyboard. At first it probably won't be all that fantastic, however I feel that as the organization grows in size the benefits will come to light.

I'm almost always logged into IRC helping out for various Linux distro's and programming languages, so I'm willing to get the whole thing set up and OP the channel. and I can write up a wiki page outlining how new users can set up IRC on their computers and get logged in and whatnot.

What say ye men? (and Jasmine)

okay, so I set up a chan on called #bozemanmakers. I was out of town this weekend so I have done little with the channel except for set it up. I plan on finding a shell account to host a bot for the chan to assisst with management etc.

currently it is a public channel, however you must have a nick that is registered with the freenode nickserv. (see /help NickServ).

I'm in a hurry right now, but I'll provide more details shortly.
